I Saw Thee On Thy Bridal Day

This melody comes from a choral setting I wrote of Edgar Allen Poe’s poem entitled, “TO–“. The arrangement for flute choir and piano adds four more voices to the original SATB, keeping all eight voices + piano in independent melodies. The poem uses spiraling language, so the melody is often presented as a round, the stretto’s effect causing the melody to swirl. The flute arrangement also develops the feeling of madness, with an increasing use of more dissonance.
