The idea for this concert came about while writing postcards to keep in touch with friends and support the USPS during the quarantine. I thought, “why not send cards to colleagues with a little piece of music on the front?” This led to an event where they could be performed live online.
Building on a tradition started by Charles Ives of writing pieces on postcards, Postcard Scores creates a reason to work in short-form, compositions ranging in length from 20 – 60 seconds.
The amazing players in this concert represent a performance consisting entirely of volunteers, a testament to the driving force of talent in the Cleveland community which cannot be stifled by a national health pandemic. This American art form receives a timely revival with a modern twist.
